Plays

TO TOUCH THE MOON

This is a play based on the medium of story telling and it is the story of Eagle 'the effigy' Ellerson. Eagle was born as a rag doll and was brought to life by a blessing bestowed upon him. But the blessing also gave him vanity, pride and an unmanageably huge ego.

This ego is flattered once again when Eagle finds an angel who, he believes, will find him his fortune. But it is only by the destruction of everything Eagle has, by his own hands, that he learns what it truly means to be blessed.

This play was read as part of the Northcott Theatre's Big Read and the Hall for Cornwall's New Writing Programme.

WHERE ANGELS FEAR TO TREAD

A short play in which four hopeless individuals are brought together by an unwaivering belief that an angel has come to save them. Their hope is kept alive by a feather pillow which they believe to be a Messenger of God, but their greed soon leads to a fight over the pillow, resulting in its destruction. It is only then, once all of their pathetic lives have been turned around, that they realise it was not a pillow that saved them, it was their friendship and the courage they found in their solidarity.

This play was read as part of a Drama impact day during my course at Edge Hill University.

Current and Latest Work

I am currently preparing to write a play as part of Script Frenzy 2010. This is an event run by the NaNoWriMo team where writers from all over the world endeavour to write a 100 page script in the 30 days of April.

My play is titled Seventeen Steps and explores the tragic life of Keah, a woman who was abandoned at birth for a genetic 'defect' her parents believed she had. A decision that saw her institutionalised for the rest of her life.

I have just finished writing a short play titled The Motherland Hears. It is a fictionalisation of the first ever journey made into space; a journey undertaken by Russian Astronaut Yuri Gagarin.

It is written for three actors and in a single setting, making it a very versatile play for small groups and venues out of a theatre.
